Baby's Story

Food Temperatures for Children

Although children are small, they also get cold and hot the same way adults do and this should be kept in mind when feeding them. Don’t feed a child hot soup in the months of July for example. Sometimes it is inevitable to get a child to eat cold meals, especially if the child is a lazy eater, but it is important to always check the temperature of the food, particularly baby’s food. The most effective way to do this is to put a little bit of food on your inner wrist since this is a more sensitive area and will give you a better idea of the temperature of the food.

Remember that in order for a child to acquire correct eating habits from a young age it is important that:

  • These habits are taught to a child.
  • That everyone living with the child knows the child feedin

    g times.
  • To keep the child’s adaptation process in mind when the child starts to eat other foods that is not breast milk or formula.
  • To have criteria when feeding a child and to follow the pediatricians indications.
  • To not confuse a correct diet with an excessive or inadequate diet.
  • That it is important to respect the tastes of the child, but always in a moderate way.
  • That the regular meal schedules make a balanced and good diet possible.

And that a varied, adequate and adapted diet that goes according to the needs of the child is the base for having good health.
