Baby's Story

Why Stimulate At Such a Young Age

If we keep in mind that intelligence is up to 75% genetic and the other 25% is acquired, we can reach the conclusion that early stimulation is indispensable.

It has been proven that before the first month of gestation, the fetus begins to develop the first synaptic connections (in other words, the neurons start to connect), and will determine the structure of the brain. Obviously prenatal stimulation favors the establishment of a neuronal net that allows better brain functioning. During the eight month of pregnancy, you baby will have between two and three times the amount of nervous cells then any other adult can have. However, before the birth over half of the neurons will have died and will continue to die at a decreasing rhythm during the first years.

Neuronal death is a totally normal process, and its cause seems to be found in the lack of synaptic connections that the neuron establishes. If there isn’t any stimulus, no connections are established, meaning the cell isolates itself and dies. The idea of prenatal stimulation is to create the highest number of connections as possible, therefore decreasing cellular death. The more neurons and connections a baby has when he or she is born, his potential future of growth will be greater.

How to Stimulate the Fetus
Prenatal stimulation is based on the repetition of sounds that the baby can easily perceive. Without a doubt, the most habitual sound for a baby during pregnancy is the heart beat of the mother. Therefore something similar has been made, but not identical, so that the baby can capture and compare which comes from his or her mother. In order to favor the stimulation, the sound must change continually, so that the baby does not get used to always hearing the same thing. This comparison exercise of sounds and memory favors the development of synaptic connections extraordinarily, reducing in consequence the rate of neuronal mortality.

This is why it is good to stimulate the baby every day and at the same time. Choose a time of the day in which you are relaxed, and play a song at medium volume and take the sound in direction of your womb while rubbing your tummy. Do this for at least ten minutes. Your baby will perceive without a matter of a doubt, the sensation of love and tranquility that you are transmitting.
